Amazing Drywall Knockdown Textures

Knockdown Textures

Knockdown drywall texture is a more subtle kind of drywall texturing.

When a simple coat of paint isn’t enough to refresh the look of the room, knockdown texture might be the answer for many reasons.

First of all, knockdown drywall texture (also known as ‘skip trowel’) can help deaden sound, provide a warm feel to the walls as well as hide any imperfections that may be on the wall surface.

Drywall texturing is a wonderful way to make your drywall more visually appealing and cover up minor imperfections in the drywall installation. Several different texturing techniques can make your drywall more or less subtle. Many homeowners elect to hire Silveria Painting because the job can be extremely messy and our Florida painting professionals have the right tools specifically designed for drywall texture spraying.

Knockdown texturing requires a thicker texture material, lower air pressure, a larger nozzle and slower application. This allows larger blobs of texturing material to build on the surface. Then, as the texture begins to dry, a wide blade spackle knife or trowel is used to knock down the high spots, creating flat areas.

Silveria Painting can achieve many different looks using the knockdown technique — from light to heavy texture — by varying the air pressure of the sprayer, the thickness of the texture material, the nozzle opening and the pressure used to knock down the peaks.
